The Champion Course at PGA National Resort & Spa was built with tournament play in mind. Originally laid out by Tom Fazio and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1990, the Champion has played host to some of golf's biggest events including the 1983 Ryder Cup, the 1987 PGA Championship and the PGA Seniors' Championship from 1982-2000. Although it is the shortest of the five courses, this "thinking man's course" demands accurate drives to narrow fairways and pinpoint approaches to the greens. Named for Gene Sarazen, the first man to win all four of professional golf's Grand Slam titles, The Squire rewards a game as elegant and precise as the man himself. Named for its designer, Arnold Palmer, The Palmer was dedicated on February 28, 1984. Its design is reminiscent of the Scottish links tradition.
