Situated amid the shallow ravines and rolling hills of the Santa Cruz River Valley, Canoa Hills Golf Club is an enjoyable track that benefits tremendously from its natural setting. Located about 1 hour south of Phoenix and minutes North of Tucson in Oro Valley, this desert course was built atop the natural landscape. The fairways afford generous landing areas, and the traditional greens are fast and well bunkered. Hole #8, a 389-yard, par 4, features a lake, which is the only water hazard on the course. The most difficult hole is #5, a 431-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot over a desert waste area while simultaneously avoiding the desert island on the right.

The challenge of this course is that it demands strategy and proper club selection. There's a lot of diversity on Canada with extensive mounding, doglegs and elevation changes from tee to green. Many of the par 4's offer birdie opportunities for the risk versus reward type of player. The 183-yard, signature 8th hole, is considered by many to be the toughest par 3 in Tucson.

The Pusch Ridge course is a nine-hole delight that may serve as a warm-up for the two championship courses at the El Conquistador Golf Club, but Pusch Ridge provides challenging play for all skill levels. It is considered by some to be the best-kept secret in Arizona golf. Boasting a 175-foot change in elevation from start to finish, this par 35 layout is not to be taken lightly.
