THE OLD COURSE - HOMESTEADHOT SPRINGS, VA Completed in 1892, the Old Course at The Homestead enjoys the distinction of having the nation's oldest first tee in continuous use. The course was originally designed as a six-hole course, but was extended to 18 by Donald Ross in 1913. And, as the game has evolved over time, so has the Old Course with updates by William S. Flynn and, more recently, by Rees Jones in 1994. The layout is most recognizable by its undulating fairways that create tough approach shots to smallish greens from awkward side hill, uphill, or downhill lies. |
