After receiving ZERO questions two weeks ago, you guys answered the bell with everything from "what should I do about my squeaky Footjoys?" to a chiding over the fact we hadn't responded to a request for information. We want to hear it all, so thank you all again for your correspondence. Of all the questions we received, this is the most relevant one to what's been happening this spring:

We have 8 guys that travel to play golf all over the country. We've played courses that have been aerating and under construction, but never been tipped off by the golf shop or the starter. Why is that? When we get in and ask for a discount, they refuse to negotiate! We spend a lot of money in the pro shops and with the beverage carts. I don't get it. Rich R. - Aurora, IL

Your question hits a nerve here in our office. This is a big problem for us when planning a golf trip. Although some courses do an outstanding job with this, few courses handle maintenance issues well in advance and advise the customer. Why is this? You've got us on that one! We think golfers should be advised in advance so expectations are set and there are no surprises. We try extremely hard to stay ahead of the game by obtaining all golf course maintenance and tournament schedules in advance so we can advise our customers. However, it's inevitable a few get by us as course conditions and maintenance schedules can change due to many factors. In fact, course conditions are our biggest obstacle to providing a great golf trip for people. If there is a problem, we suggest our customers contact us while they are traveling (on the day of play, if possible). We can then try to address it with the right person at the particular club. We can often work something out or even move clients to a nearby club if it's sensible. |
