Redesigned by Pete Dye in 1994, this terrific course has long been an island favorite. Cut through beautiful stands of magnolia and live oak trees, the grounds here are rich in Civil War history. In fact, you'll find historical markers on several holes describing the events that happened here so long ago. The course itself is typical (diabolical?) Dye with fairly generous landing zones, but tough approach shots to small, well-bunkered greens....

The 2,000-acre resort at Palmetto Dunes has always been recognized for its outstanding golf facilities. The George Fazio Course, opened in 1974, is considered by many to be the island's toughest layout including the demanding 230-yard par-three 17th hole. If you're looking to test your mettle, this is the course for you. The course offers a series of long par-4s, beset with bunkers and water hazards -- demanding a combination of length and precision play.
