Wow. What an amazing round. Fantastic conditions. The greens were perhaps the best I have ever played in my life. Smooth and fast. Played in under 4 hours with a buddy, and we went out again right away for a free replay from TTUSA. Have been talking about playing this course for almost 7 years. Do yourself a favor, do the 30 minute drive from LBV and try this one. Just as good, if not better, than others in area costing twice as much.

Brilliant...If you play only once in the Orlando area then make it Southern Dunes! Superb course and challenging but fair for all levels. Staff great and nice clubhouse as well. A little further out but so worth the trip!

Awesome course, definitely in my top 2 in the area, along with Tranquilo! We were totally impressed on our drive in to the course, it looked pristine! And it played as good as it looked. Once again the staff was very helpful, and friendly. Especially Bob the starter from Chicago, totally enjoyed talking with him while waiting to tee off on our replay! This one will be a must play when we come back down in the fall.

The course from tee box to green was in great shape. The layout had a lot of character, challenging yet fair. Everyone in my group enjoyed it.

We have taken our Spring Trip to Orlando 3 times now over the last 12 years and Southern Dunes is always my highlight. This course is fantastic and the subtle changes they've made over the past 1-2 years look like they've been there forever. The new greens are in great shape and already rolling nicely. This is a MUST play when in Orlando.
Great layout greens were overdressed so sand made putting a little difficult. Practice facility was great.
It was our 1st season @Dunes, and the course was in great shape. A lot of Dunes, obviosly, we?ll be back next year!
This course will test all your golfing skills. Make sure your sand game is ready. Throughly enjoyed our day with a large group of 20 golfers.
Great course, great staff, great bar and restaurant AAAAA all around, 4 hour round, nice..would play it three times.
Played 7 rounds in 7 days with our party of 8 from the Uk. This was the best round of all as the course, staff and restaurant/bar were all excellent. The price was a lot higher than most of the other courses played, but was worth the extra and we will certainly return next year.
Nice course - new greens make it much harder - good condition - worth playing - a few too many houses around but to be expected. Good value
This course is incredibly nice. They said they lost their greens a few years ago, and since then the course and the carts are new! The staff here are very friendly, from the bag drop to the bar staff. Exceptional value for money and one of the nicest courses you will find in the Orlando area.
Best golf course we played of the six. Outstanding layout. Course was in great shape and felt like it was in a different part of the country. A must for anyone to play.

Course was in great shape. All of our 28 golfers asked to keep SD on our play list for 2018.
We absolutely love this course, missed it last year because of the Greens issue. We rated it #1 out of six courses we played.
Beautiful course! One of the best groomed I've ever played. Perfect roll on the greens. Just stay out of the bunkers! The only drawback is the close proximity of the houses, which takes away from the beauty of the course and makes for some nervous shots.

Cream of the crop. Worth the money. If you don't like sand play somewhere else. But the sand is fair, is not much of an issue if you hit where you are supposed to. We loved the GPS system they have on the carts. A definite for next year.

What a great course. 180 something bunkers. Fastest and smoothest greens I've ever played. Running I would say at 12-12.5 they are firm but will hold a well struck ball. You have to hit real golf shots to play well. It is a very fair course, but I could see some brutal scores here as well. Loved it from beginning to end. If you're a high ball hitter and your friend isn't, bring him here you'll clean up. The Bermuda fairways were tough for me being from Michigan. I walked off 18 shaking my head about the awesome greens.
We have played this course many times and it was always one of my favorites however they have ruined it. A few years ago they replaced the grass on the greens with some type of pro turf which made them horribly fast. Now they have redone many of the greens to the extent they are very punitive and for my game unenjoyable. It is a great layout but we will not be going back, there are too many better places to play.

A very nice course spoiled by the fact it was a very cold and windy morning and the round was quite slow. The next day was much warmer and the course showed more promise.

Easily one of my favorite courses in the Orlando area. The three things I look for in a course are course design, condition of the course, and pace of play. I really like the course. Each hole is very different and memorable. They were top dressing the greens today, but this course is usually in pristine condition. Played there 3 weeks ago and it was in perfect shape. I have played here here many times and I have never had a problem playing in less than 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
A gem not much else to say. We're always greeted in a timely fashion. The course for having new greens was fantastic. A must play for golfers.
Extremely nice staff. We had a situation and were late and they accommodated us. I really enjoyed the back nine. The course was in great shape but the homes are a little tight on the front. If you don't enjoy that it could be a problem. I really liked the layout and course condition. I would go back as it was an outstanding value but you have to be aware of the houses...

A beautiful layout. Again the greens on this date were unappealing visually, however the ball rolled adequately considering a quilted, patched look. We played 36 this day and the clubhouse, staff and amenities were very nice. beautiful layout.

This is one of our favorite courses and we have played some of the best in the world. Just a fun track, worth the drive every time. They have some issues with their greens but mostly aesthetic and they are reaching them to new type of grass this year.
Great layout and they do a good job, but the greens are completely gone. They had them covered with some mixture and said they were closing at some point soon to rebuild them. They were unplayable.
We were told on arrival that they were having problems with the greens. Each green was diseased and had sand over the whole green. They are planning to replace them during the summer. That said they were true and quick. The course is fantastic, well worth playing. Not tricked up, some beautiful holes and excellent Par 3's. This and Falcon's Fire were in our opinion 'the best'.

Always one of our favourites. Course is always in great shape. Lots of bunkers, and huge greens. A must to play. Greens are fast and very receptive to crisp iron shots.
Awful and unplayable greens! All 12 of our guys felt the greens were unfair and ruined the course and day! Greens had tons of green sand on them. Pin Placements were also ridiculous! It's a shame because it is beautiful and a great layout.
Our group has been going on trips for many years and Southern Dunes was the worst experience we ever have had!

Nice course and considering it rained 3.0-3.5 inches that day the course drainage was incredible.
The one bright spot on our three rounds. The course is having some issues with their greens, but we felt they were acceptable. We played in about four hours and enjoyed ourselves.

We play this course every year when we are down in January. Worth the drive to Haines City. One of the and if not the best Orlando area golf course to play. Great staff and the course is always in exceptional condition. I would highly recommend this place.
Rained in the morning which made it so the course was our own private course. This is a must paly if you are in Orlando. The views on every hole are beautiful and the greens are some of the best. Stop by the roadside stand on 27 on your way out to pick up some fresh shrimp, crabs, fruit, and smoked ribs.

One of the most fun courses to play in the Orlando area. Course condition, greens and pace of play were all excellent. The staff was great during check-in and on the first tee. Clubhouse and range are okay but not great. But who cares, I am there to play golf. This is a must play for people coming to Orlando to play golf.
Just a gorgeous course. It would have been great to play a second 18, but we had a flight to catch. Great clubhouse. They also let us use their showers in the locker room. We were grateful, as it was a very muggy day.
This was our 3rd time golfing this course and it's one of our favorites. Will do it again sometime in the future.

probably the nicest all around course Ive ever played on in my life..Ive travelled to myrtle beach,played probably 30 of their courses played all over and I think it would be tough to out d this course..kudos to the staff and grounds keepers.
If you like sand and dunes this is the course to play. It was actually my best round of the week. Course was in excellent shape with a great layout and challenging. Staff was great with the group of 35 we had. A must play if in Orlando.
This is one of my favorite courses. Everything except for the food service is outstanding. As I stated in the comments on Falcons fire, I wish the courses had a food you can get fast so you can move on the next nine holes.

Lots of dunes.
Haven't had this much trouble in the sand since my deployment to Afghanistan in 2011, and had that same 'I'm glad it's over' feeling afterwards. You combat vets out there will know what I'm talking about.

This was our first time there. The greens where the fastest we have played on in Florida. Loved it. Defiantly have to play in the fairways. 186 bunkers will kill you. Beautiful course.

Wow! I was treated like royalty from the minute I arrived. Unlimited golf, great range, great breakfast. Pro shop and back shop staff were excellent. The course was challenging and very different from the normal flat Florida style. Highly recommended

Very much a northern feel with fast undulating greens and thick rough and real elevation changes. The condition was perfect, and this is one of the best courses in the region.

We played this on a Saturday so a little busy. But still really enjoyed this course. Allot of sand. All the guys really commented on how pretty this course is. Had lunch there after play and the food was very good. Will probably look to play this again next year.

This is the course we like the most. The used to have a problem with slow play in the afternoon but they are more on top of things now. It is still a little slow in the afternoon but much better then it used to be.

The greens here are almost a joke. Way too fast for the average golfer which leads to a plus 5 hour round. If these greens were slower it would be a much better course to play.

Beautiful course - extremely challenging. 180 bunkers - no straight putts. Triple bogeys lurking on every hole. Great clubhouse and service. You need your A game at this course.

Bunkers, Bunkers, Bunkers
Unfortunately this course got soaked with a huge amount of rain the night before we teed off. The course had the grounds crews on the course trying to repair it but they had a lot of bunkers and hills washed out.
The layout of the course was good but the greens still had sand and aeration marks all over. I know that I am not the best golfer but I had a hard time reading and judging the speed green to green (compared to the 4 other courses we played these were inconsistent speed and break wise).
This looked like a nice place to play (if it wasn't hit with so much rain before we got there) but just isn't for me. I am not a huge fan of bunkers (This course was another group members pick) and this place has a ton. If you don't mind fairway and green-side bunkers, I would recommend this course to you, otherwise I would recommend a different course.
Another enjoyable course but a little tighter thanFalcons Fire. Plenty of sand traps make up for the lack of waterhazards. In excellent condition and facilities superb.

The bunkers were essentially unplayable. For a course that has so many bunkers, the sand was incredibly soft. Every shot into a bunker, weather it be with a 3 wood or sand wedge would plug essentially making it a two shot penalty. Good shots into some greens would not be rewarded as they should have been. Greens, however, were in excellent condition, as was the course itself. However, because of the bunkers, I wouldn't be rushing back to this course.

This is our prime course. You will love So. Dunes if you haven't played it. If you have, you know what a gem it is.

The fairways and tees are in great shape. Some of the greens are simply "unplayable" for the average golfer. Too fast with strange slope runoffs... particularly numbers 16 & 17.

A very nice course. Unfortunately, it is a bit out of the way but worth the drive. The course is a challenge with all of the traps but a fun round if your stay in the grass. The course has been reseeded since our last visit and is in great shape. Most of the guys had fun and played additional holes.

This is by all means a premium track where you will get a great golfing experience. Fabulous design - nearly 200 bunkers very well maintained. The course is well groomed and the grean are fabulous..playing around 12. This is a must to play.

The course is one of the most plush well masintained courses we played and its to only one we played 2 times. That being said, the pace of play was horrible. Another 5 1/2 hour round was exhausting. We were told they started the day with a group of 12 and the 2nd & 3rd droups were holding things up. If thats the case, have them either pick up or get off. It backed up the whole day. When we complained to the staff during the round they could ony apoligize. When wwe complained to management they offered us a 2 for 1 at the bar. How insulting. Southern Dunes is off my list. Please feel free to share this with SD.

The greens were unusually fast. Appeared as they were preparing for another event. All the greens were fast---- not one here and another there.
This was the best playing conditions of the five I played while on vacation. I would try to send every golfer to this course as they presented the conditions a pga tour event would expect. Greens were double cut and rolled and putted as fast as anyone would ever want. I would quess they were a 12. I could go on for ever about this course but the $92 surcharge felt worthwhile when you were done playing and reflected on your experience at this course. I will play again next year.

Ps, regarding the clubhouse: they're all pretentiously magnificent, reminding of Victorian men's clubs. Brown wood, lush carpets, deep seated club chairs. I felt like a member of the House of Lords. It's about the course not the club house. The staff at each course were polite, some were fun to chat with.

Great courses, there are 183 bunkers but I would say only 50% are actually in play, some of them are behind the tees your playing. But the course was in good shape and some great holes...the first par 3 is a monster.

By far the best course we have played year in and out its always been excellent.

The highlight of the trip. Great course design. The only course that was totally green the first week in November. They apparently start their overseeding a little earlier than other courses. Very reasonable replay rates. Would definitely include this course on any future trip to Orlando.
Played here 5 years ago and still looks great. Bunkers in great shape which is good considering there are a bunch of them. Back nine is way better than the front. GPS is a little cheap, but no big deal.
Grounds crew needs to start earlier though. We were in front of them all morning (no tee markers; hairy boxes, mowers around us, etc).
This is on the same par as Grand Cypress, which is our favorite.
We didn't use the practice facilities but I'm sure they're as wonderful as the rest. The only reason I gave the pro shop a 4 is it's size. The staff from top to bottom were incredible. As with most Florida golf courses summer maintenance is a must and that would be the only reason I gave the course condition a 4. We will difinitely return! The course was interesting, fun and playable. What a treat!

Best shape i have ever seen it .
Nice track, but in a typical weird Florida housing community. Obviously, the course was there first and then the development grew around it. Love to play 18 there, and then if there's another 18 like it close by so we could turn 36 easily in one day (or just play it for 36 holes))
Houses along many of the fairways - but not tight against the fairways. Very scenic. Good, fair golf challenge.
Of all the courses that we played including disney Southern Dunes was the best, Fantastic Greens an although they speak about the huge numbers of bunkers dont be put of for handicaps of 10 and above, forward tee boxes do take out alot of trouble and good drives also from the forward tees clear a significant number of bunkers,
Staff were fantastic and very helpful, club house and eating were excellent

We schedule this course every year,but if you spray it can be a very long day--just ask me !!
Nice course, but the only 1 of the 4 i played where virtually every hole was surrounded by houses. Whilst not intrusive, it took away from the overall experience a little.
This is not a 4.5 star rated course as far as we could see or experience!

This is the most reasonable golf course in the area and a true joy to play. The staff in the club house and pro shop are very friendly and the course is always in great shape.
Oh yeah!! what a course. Need to bring your "A" game. Drive was not too far and worth every minute of it.

Specatular layout with lots more elevation changes than most Orlando area courses. Trouble was the greens were so fast that with may slanted pin positions it was defensive putting all day. Needed just a little more grass on the greens.
Outstanding..............Other than pace of play took 5 hours and 40 minutes to play. In previous years that never happened could have been just a busy day.

My personal favorite golf course on our golf trip. The course condtions have been top of the class the past three years. It is to bad the entrance is littered with dollar stores, gas stations and a walmart. This is a true hidden gem. The bev cart pricing was very fair also.
Great course but GPS system and yardage markings were minimal.

this is the ONLY course that does not allow you to bring out water etc.....we had to purchase all from the course and they were not nice about it..but we like the course

There is something about Southern Dunes that keeps us coming back. The greens are huge and are always in great shape. You have a nice variety of hole layouts. We always have a great time here.
This is my personal favourite. Played it before and will play it again. A real pleasure to the eye!

This was our first day of play and everybody enjoyed the golf course.
This has traditionally been our favorite course in the Orlando area for years and it never disappoints us. A great facility.
The only thing we could fault this course for was for not allowing us to take more than 1 bottle of our own drinks. We were actually staying at this complex too as a private booking. However the course was excellent and a great challenge. 186 Bunkers are enough to scare anybody, and I only went in 3 all round!
